‘Proud of My Brother’: LeBron James Shows Support to JR Smith as He Makes His College Golf Debut

It isn’t new to know that LeBron James is always a great teammate. His on court actions always come up as proof. However, even off the court, he doesn’t leave out any opportunity to give his teammates a boost. Recently, his former teammate, J. R. Smith took part in a college tournament and the ‘King’ is proud of him.

A change of passion is rare when you play in the biggest basketball league in the world. But the connection of golf and the NBA goes a long way back. So after not having a team in the league, Smith took up golf. Now, he took part in a college tournament and it is safe to say his swing is looking good.

Looking at this achievement, James took to twitter to show his support for his brother.

Smith took part in his first ever college tournament playing for North Carolina. He took part in the Elon Phoenix Invitational where Carolina currently sits at the 11th spot. While none of Smith’s scores were taken by the college, he had a decent tournament debut.

Reacting to video of Smith putting in the work, LeBron said that it is really cool to see him play. He further added that he is extremely proud of his brother for taking this step and going places as well. Him and Smith have a very shaky history when it comes to the NBA.

The last time they were on the same side was in 2020 where the Lakers won their 17th championship. However, Smith didn’t play a big part while LeBron James took home the Finals MVP. Before that their last finals appearance was quite iconic. This was when he took control of the ball in Game 1, and with the game tied, he dribbled the ball out.

However, they have had countless great moments together. Most notably, their 2016 championship triumph stands out from the rest. Smith came off as an important role player in their 3-1 comeback against the Warriors. Smith would even stand up to anyone on the court if LeBron was in question. There is no doubt that LeBron and Smith have gone through their ups and downs. But at the end of the day, they remain brothers who will always have each others’ back.
