Strictly Come Dancing 2021: Nina Wadia blames ‘harsh’ Craig Revel-Horwood and confusing scoring system for early exit

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Nina Wadia believes Craig Revel-Horwood’s harsh scoring of her tango is the reason for her early exit.
The 52-year-old actress, who was the first contestant to be eliminated from this year’s series, has criticised the show’s scoring methods.
The star also revealed she was left feeling confused at Judi Love scoring a seven from Craig who described her dance as a ‘technical disaster,’ – while Nina was only scored a three.
Speaking to The Sun, Nina said: ‘You can’t give someone like me a three when I’ve tried so hard and tried something so technically difficult, then at the same time give someone else who’s had a bit of a mistake a seven just because they looked good doing it.’
‘I don’t understand the marking system at all. I don’t think the marking system makes any sense. I thought, ok, this is only week two, you know, you make a little mistake, you’re only human, she added.’
Nina, who was partnered with professional dancer Neil Jones, performed a tango in week two of the competition. Although judge Motsi Mabuse praised the couple for their efforts, Anton Du Beke spotted several mistakes and even admitted feeling ‘uncomfortable’ watching from the sidelines.

The couple later found themselves in the dance-off with Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn and Gorka Marquez, before leaving the show for good.
The judges’ scores were added to those from the first week’s dances before being combined with the results from a public vote, with the bottom two couples then competing in the dance-off.
Katie, who was the latest star to be eliminated from the competition, recently admitted that she couldn’t help feeling like she was the reason for Nina’s exit.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk she said: ‘It was bittersweet really because I love Nina to bits, and I felt really guilty afterwards because I felt like I was the reason she left.
‘I know it’s the nature of the show and somebody has to leave every week and we’re all going to have to go through this every week, that’s part of it.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
