WATCH: Boston Red Sox Take a Cheap Shot at the Tampa Bay Rays Following ALDS Victory at Fenway Park
Yesterday, the Boston Red Sox took on the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 4 of their American League Division Series. Although the Rays gave their best efforts in a win or go home situation, the Red Sox ultimately prevailed to pull off a stunning series victory over the AL East champions.
Following their victory, the Red Sox mocked their opponents in the locker room by using a whiteboard, a marker and two of their star players.

Both teams started off on an aggressive note, with their pitchers conceding no runs in the first two innings. However, the Red Sox put in a strong performance during the bottom of the third inning to take a commanding lead.
Despite Shane McClanahan recording two outs for the Rays, the Red Sox scored five runs in this inning. Rafael Devers smashed a 98mph pitch from McClanahan straight into the stands to record a three-run home run. Alex Verdugo and J. D. Martinez then recorded RBIs to take the Red Sox 5-0 up by the end of the inning.
Despite the gap, the Rays fought back, as Jordan Luplow scored their first run in the top of the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, Wander Franco smashed a huge two-run home run to reduce the arrears to 5-3. The AL East champions then tied the game through Kevin Kiermaier and Randy Arozarena, who recorded RBIs in the eighth inning.
However, Enrique Hernandez recorded an RBI in the final inning to see the Red Sox record a walk-off victory over the Rays. Had the Rays won, they would play a deciding Game 5 in Tampa Bay. However, the Red Sox’s victory meant there will be no Game 5 in this series.
This saw them mock the Rays about this fact. In a video shared by the Red Sox on Twitter, Xander Bogaerts and Jose Iglesias stood near a board which read, “Flight to Tampa cancelled!”

They progressed to the ALCS for the first time since 2018
With a 3-1 series victory over the Rays, they reached the ALCS for the first time in three years. Here, they will face either the Chicago White Sox or the Houston Astros to attempt reaching the World Series.

After beating the team with the best record in the American League, the Red Sox will be riding high on confidence heading into the ALCS. Whether they meet the Red Sox or the Astros, they could be favorites to repeat their 2018 heroics.
