“What an Absolute Farce” – Latest DAZN Survey Has Left Boxing Fans Enraged
Back in 2018, DAZN was beginning to roll out and had turned some eyes with the promise to kill the conventional pay-per-view mechanism in boxing. However, it seems the only thing that fans liked about that entire concept may no longer hold true.
Fans received a survey in their email inboxes recently. DAZN emailed a customer survey to its subscribers; it previewed that the survey was designed to test a ‘new’ pay-per-view concept on DAZN.
It seems even after the ‘PPV is dead’ promotional campaign run by the new-age streaming service, DAZN might consider switching to a regular ‘pay-per-view’ system for boxing events.
The survey message mentioned that subscribers will have the option to access PPV events on the DAZN platform. It was highlighted that this PPV charge would be separate from the original £7.99 monthly subscription fee.
This will be applicable only for “the biggest fights”. However, at the moment, it is unclear what actually qualifies as a big fight. Hopefully, DAZN will clear the confusion in further notices to its subscribers.
What if every single “big fight” becomes an additional charge on top of the subscription fee?
“Access the biggest fights in boxing with pay-per-view (PPV) events on DAZN.
“You can continue to watch the majority of fights with a monthly or annual subscription, including some of the best-known names in boxing. PPV events will only be for the biggest fights and can be added on top of your subscription with one-time purchases.
“Watch PPV events on all your devices, including the main event, build-up coverage (weigh-in, press conference, etc.), and the undercards,” read the DAZN survey message.
DAZN subscribers are not happy with the PPV talk
With this new update recently shared by DAZN, boxing fans have now taken the storm to Twitter. Many laughed at and cursed the boxing streaming service for misleading its subscribers.

How likely would it be that you buy Whyte vs Andy Ruiz on DAZN PPV for £30 https://t.co/wspvofk0eg

Ffs, DAZN PPV.
Really?!
The £7.99 a month isn’t enough??
Get in the bin.

How about this for an idea DAZN. Keep the monthly price at £1.99 and then charge your £30 for your PPV’s for “big fights”?

Boxing fans: “But I thought the point of DAZN was to change the game and get rid of PPV? I thought PPV was dead!?”

Clearly, boxing fans are not happy with DAZN’s plans to turn to a PPV system. Initial subscribers were drawn to the idea of not having to pay hefty PPV charges for every event; however, DAZN could be in for a shock when the fans later decide to switch over to other general streaming services like Sky, etc.
