Andy Murray Puts Novak Djokovic Ahead of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in ‘Decision Making’ Ability

In the men’s game, there has not been any player as dominant as Novak Djokovic over the past decade. He has won 19 out of his 20 Grand Slam titles during this period. With the improvements in his game, be it his defensive skills or his tactical approach, he is at the very top.

Recently, Novak Djokovic was praised by Andy Murray. According to the three-time Major winner, the Serb knows how to go about things during matches. For him to be able to maintain his focus and execute the right shots at the right time is what separates him from the rest of the players on Tour.

As years have gone by, Djokovic has surpassed rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal when it comes to decision-making. The two-time Olympic gold medalist said, “I mean I’d probably say, Novak. As I would say in important situations for the most part I would say he would’ve made the right decision more often than most players I would say right now. I’d say Medvedev’s right up there.”

Novak Djokovic’s focus is on a different level

The Serb’s confidence, concentration, and singular focus are qualities which make him excel at decision making. After the Serb, Murray even considered Medvedev to be a good decision-maker.

The 34-year-old added, “I think he’s a very smart player and stuff. I think, you know, a lot that comes with confidence and also how you’re feeling about your game and your shots. I think if you’re not feeling your shots that well, you are not sure how the ball is going to come out of your racquet sometimes, that’s when there’s a little bit of indecision in that split-second decision you sort of maybe change your mind or whatever and that’s when mistakes can come.”

The fact that Nadal and Federer haven’t been at their best lately has contributed to their hesitant decision making on the court.

Coming to tennis, Murray was competing at the Indian Wells Masters. He lost to Zverev. On the other hand, Djokovic is taking a well-earned rest and has not competed in any event since the US Open loss. We hope to see both players competing this season again.
