Charles Leclerc Makes a Bold Ferrari Claim in Warning to Other F1 Teams After Turkish GP

Since joining Ferrari in 2019, Charles Leclerc displayed the skill and talent which the Italian outfit saw in him. Initially on a two-year contract, Ferrari extended his contract till the end of 2024 right after that season. This move clarified that they considered the Monegasque as their future.

Although he’s just in his third season with the iconic outfit, Leclerc’s already dealt with a wide range of fortunes. After struggling last season, the 23-year-old has a better car this season, with Ferrari challenging McLaren for third place in the constructor’s championship. Following a solid outing in Turkey this Sunday, Leclerc spoke about the team’s current growth.

Charles Leclerc believes Ferrari’s growth is second to none

During the Turkish Grand Prix, Leclerc showed excellent pace after starting from third place. He briefly led the race before his intermediate tires couldn’t keep up, which saw Valtteri Bottas snatch the lead and win the race.

In addition, Carlos Sainz made impressive moves from P19 to finish P8 and win his first Driver of the Day award. Ferrari showed several instances of improvement this year, with Leclerc believing their performance in Istanbul showed their growth looks the best among all teams.

He said“After 2020, which was a difficult year, we started working in the right direction. There are no miracles in Formula 1. Everyone is working to improve, but I have the impression that Ferrari is growing more than the other teams.” (Quotes translated by Google)

The Monegasque said, “I am a person who tries to analyze the situation well. Usually I set realistic goals, but the truth is that I always think about victory. It seems unrealistic, but if there are six races left between now and the end of the season, I will aim for six wins.

“I don’t think it’s realistically possible, but if there is an opportunity I will try, as I did in Turkey. In these six races we will certainly work to grow, to start the new era of Formula 1 in 2022 in the best possible way.”

After an impressive outing in Turkey, Ferrari trail McLaren by just 7.5 points in the constructor’s championship. Can the Italian outfit overtake their British rivals in the final six races? Only time will tell.
