Jose Altuve Makes Houston Astros History With Huge Win Over Chicago White Sox

The Guaranteed Rate Field saw the Houston Astros seal the ALDS with a stunning 10-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox yesterday. While their pitchers put on an impressive display, Jose Altuve once again led the hitting for the Astros, who avoided a Game 5 showdown with this win.

During the game, Altuve smashed a home run which moved him up in the list of all-time postseason home runs scored by a single player.

In yesterday’s game, the White Sox started well as rookie Gavin Sheets smashed a home run in the bottom of the second inning to give them a 1-0 lead. However, this would prove to be their only run as the Astros came back strongly.

In the top of the third inning, Carlos Correa drove in two RBI for the Astros, which gave them the lead. They then continued to increase their lead with clever hitting around the field to drive runs in. However, their only home run of the game came in the top of the ninth inning. And once again, it was Altuve who did the honors.

The 31-year-old smashed a 99mph pitch from Liam Hendriks into the stands to score a three-run home run. This home run was Altuve’s 19th in his postseason career, which ties him with George Springer for the most in Astros history.

In addition, this home run moved Altuve to a joint fourth on the all-time list for the most career postseason home runs. He only trails Manny Ramirez with 29, Bernie Williams with 22, and Derek Jeter with 20.

Altuve scored four runs and drove in three RBI for the Houston Astros

The Venezuelan produced a fine display throughout the game, scoring four out of the Astros’ 10 runs in the game. Kyle Tucker and Chas McCormick scored two runs each, while Alex Bregman and Martin Maldonado scored one run each.

With this series victory, they secured their fifth consecutive ALCS appearance and will face the Boston Red Sox next. Game 1 of this best-of-seven series begins on Friday, October 15th at Astros’ home, the Minute Maid Park.
