The former interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje reveals why the promotion pays him more for his fights. He also warns his next opponent ahead of their big fight.
Justin Gaethje is all set to go against the former UFC title challenger Michael Chandler at UFC 269. This intriguing lightweight bout will take place inside Madison Square Garden in New York City on 6th November.
Ahead of his fight, Gaethje appeared in an interview with Brett Okamoto of ESPN. He warned Michael Chandler and said, “There’s only one common denominator in every single one of those fights and that’s myself. So it is what it is that’s how I fight. This fight will be just the same.”
“I am gonna go out there and try to break this dude as fast as possible, as violently as possible, obviously. Most Violent man, all that bullsh*t doesn’t matter. I’m 22-3 with 19 knockouts. Which one of these dudes can say that? Which one of those dudes can say they got nine bonuses in their first seven fights? Not one of them. The common denominator is gonna be me every single time. It’s the way I fight. It’s why they pay me so much money.”
‘The Highlight’ claimed he would secure a finish against Chandler at UFC 269. Both fighters are coming off at a loss in their previous title fight. Chandler lost his first UFC lightweight title shot against Oliveira at UFC 262.
While Gaethje unified his interim lightweight gold and fought the then champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 254. He was submitted by ‘The Eagle’ in the second round of the fight. Now both the lightweight fighters will look to secure a win for a potential title shot next.
