AEW Superstar Clears Stance After Receiving Backlash Over Comments on Vince McMahon and Triple H
AEW has turned out as a major competition for WWE in just 2 years of its life cycle. One organization had dominated the professional wrestling circuit, but all that changed in the past 2 years. Following the outbreak of COVID-19, Vince McMahon decided to part ways with several superstars, including Lio Rush aka Lionel Green.
The wrestler shared his thoughts about his departure in a podcast, “Oral Sessions with Renée Paquette”. Lionel made bold statements about not wanting to work with a boss like Vince and Triple H. He also praised AEW’s boss and owner Tony Kahn, and this comparison drew heavy flake from the community.
He said, “And Tony is such a great guy. I think that played a huge part in me wanting to be in AEW too, because I didn’t want another boss like Vince. I didn’t want another boss like Hunter. People have different opinions about Hunter, but me and Hunter, we kind of always butted heads for multiple, stupid reasons.

But I didn’t feel like that with Tony. And I felt super connected with him and I felt like he was relatable. I felt like he cared about the same things that the boys in the back cared about. He felt hungry; he felt driven and passionate. And I liked his energy. I’m all about energy, and I just knew it was right.”
Lio offered clarification about his recent comments of Vince McMahon
It seems like the comments expressed in the aforementioned podcast rubbed the community the wrong way. Now, the 26-year-old wrestler has come up with a response, following the outrage. The wrestler suggested that things are great with his former bosses and instead he only had issues with the way things came to a close.
Also…. HHH and Vince were great. Never said i was mistreated. I said we butted heads like human beings do and that’s fine. Most of us released during the pandemic were dropped in the blink of an eye and made us feel unwanted. I simply wanted an opposite feeling. #SimpleAsThat

Pandemic hit the entire world like a storm that no one saw it coming. This forced the world to shut down, and businesses to incur massive unforeseen losses. Inevitably, WWE too had to make cost-cutting, due to which they released wrestlers. Lio must have felt really down with the way things played, and naturally, it led him to vent his frustrations.
Do you think Lionel made a grave mistake by attacking Vince and Hunter? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
