Activision has released the reveal trailer for Call Of Duty Vanguard’s Zombie mode, a prequel to the story from Black Ops Cold War.

As promised, Activision has released the new Zombies mode trailer for Call Of Duty: Vanguard and… yep, those are definitely zombies – and also Nazis and demons.

The reveal was at exactly the same time as the Battlefield 2042 Hazard Zone unveil, which seems all the more petty because they only released the trailer and more detailed information won’t be released until later in the day.

For now though you can see that it all seems to be set during the Second World War, rather than the alternative universes of previous years, and seems to involve magic crystals and runes, as well as just period weapons.

As was already known, Zombies mode is this year being developed by Treyarch, even though Sledgehammer is doing the rest of the game.

That’s in part because the pandemic has put everyone behind but also because Treyarch has the most experience with the mode, amongst all the Call Of Duty developers, and this one is specifically meant to be a prequel Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies.

Activision is characterising the prequel status as a ‘franchise crossover’, although it doesn’t appear as if that really makes much difference.

Many have argued that Zombies has long been in need of a major revamp but that doesn’t seem to be something that’s happening this year. Although that in itself suggests that the majority of players are still happy with it.

Call Of Duty: Vanguard will be released on November 5 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
