Cameron Norrie Parallels Novak Djokovic in This Record As He Enters the Final 8 at Indian Wells

Cameron Norrie of Great Britain is having a brilliant 2021 season. The Brit claimed his first ATP title this year at Los Cabos Open, beating Brandon Nakashima in the final. Norrie also acquired his career-high ranking of World No. 26.  The 26-year-old, who turned pro in 2017, is currently competing at Indian Wells, California. Another player who’s enjoyed tremendous success in 2021 is World No. 1, Novak Djokovic.

Norrie has emphatically cruised into the quarter-finals of the tournament. On his way, he overcame Tennys Sandgren, Tommy Paul, and Roberto Bautista Agut. The Brit will face the World No. 15, Diego Schwartzman in the quarter-finals. With his win, he matched this record held by Nole for 2021.

Cameron Norrie matches this Novak Djokovic record

Cameron Norrie is undoubtedly having a remarkable 2021. Following his fourth-round win at Indian Wells, the Brit has now equalled the record with Novak Djokovic for most triumphs in 2021. Both Norrie and Djokovic are tied at 44 wins. With Djokovic withdrawing from Indian Wells, Norrie has a golden chance to surpass him in this particular stat.

Norrie comes into the match full of confidence, having won his first ever ATP title in 2021. It seems the time has finally come for Norrie to show his real capabilities.

After successfully progressing past Tommy Paul in the round of 16, Cameron Norrie has entered the finals 8 at Indian Wells. He played solid and consistent, if not particularly show-stopping, tennis and served strongly in his match against Paul. The Brit will be facing Diego Schwartzman of Argentina in quarters.

Interestingly, in all of his matches, the match went on to the deciding sets. Clearly, Norrie seemed to hold his composure brilliantly. In the post-match interview, Norrie quoted, “I knew what I was in for. I stayed pretty composed in the big moments.”

This will be Noorie’s first ATP Masters 1000 quarterfinal, so it will be fascinating to see how the Brit takes on this challenge.
