How Many NASCAR Fans Will be in Attendance at Texas Motor Speedway?

This weekend is the 2021 Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway. The race marks the first race of the final elimination round that will decide the Championship 4. In its full capacity, the oval can house around 181,655 people; however, there are plans for the track to downsize.

“I don’t want to say 50,000 because I think that’s too low but I’d think the sweet spot for us is about 75,000,” TMS assistant general manager Kenton Nelson said.

“Think of this as a re-modernization of Texas Motor Speedway. I think what you’ll see is taking out a row of seats and replacing it with a drink and food rail in front of it,” Nelson said.

“We could expand the size of the seat from 18 inches wide to 22 inches wide, so it’s more comfortable. Fans want to be comfortable, and we will offer something that is a hell of a lot more comfortable than (current grandstand seat).”

What to expect from the Texas Motor Speedway?

Over here, eight drivers will commence their battle to nab four elusive spots in the Championship 4. The Texas track simply marks the start of the impending dogfight. This year’s contenders are Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr, Brad Keselowski, Ryan Blaney, and Joey Logano.

Larson heads into this race with a win under his belt, but Hamlin is looking threatening, and Busch won last year’s race.

Admittedly, the TMS’ plans were a bit delayed due to the COVID-19 situation. Now, it remains to be seen how the track authorities will handle the affairs and updates.

Until then, the NASCAR Cup Series paddock will be anxiously waiting for another thrilling race. The competition will be fierce between the aforementioned eight drivers. If one of them can grab a win, they will be safe from elimination and hand themselves an advantage in the Playoff race.
