“I Dont Think He Can Run More Than 350m”: Has Hurdling Star Karsten Warholm Found A New Rival?
The Norwegian Olympic Champion, Karsten Warholm, won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. En route, Warholm broke the 29-year-long record in 400 meters hurdles. Warholm is also a World Champion, winning gold at the international level in 2017 and 2019.
Notably, in Tokyo, he broke his own record by over three-quarters of a second with an astonishing 45.94 seconds in the 400m hurdles. People who witnessed his magnificent strides hailed the race as one of the greatest ever.
Recently, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, a Norwegian middle-distance runner, commented on Warholm, questioning his abilities. However, Karsten Warholm had a fitting reply.
Ingebrigtsen questions Warholm’s ability; Warholm replies right back
Jakob Ingebrigtsen took to Twitter to express his opinion regarding Olympic Champion Karsten Warholm. He tweeted that he didn’t think Warholm could beat him. In fact, he even said that Warholm hasn’t run more than 350m, and doesn’t train as he does.

The humble Karsten Warholm replied back that he never really said he could beat Ingebrigtsen over 700m. He also clarified that he sure could run more than 350m.
The comment section saw the fans pouring in their opinion as well. Both of the athletes are from different categories, and for them to race each other would be a sight worth watching. The fans compared a possible race to the 1997 Donovan Bailey vs Michael Jordan race, where Jordan actually claimed to have gotten hurt.
New 400m hurdle record set by Karsten Warholm
Warholm set an all-new record during the Diamond League at Oslo.
Warholm, the World, and European champion clocked 46.70 seconds to beat the previous best of 46.78sec set by American Kevin Young back in 1992.

However, Warholm broke his own record to snatch gold in Tokyo. To put that performance into perspective, only four runners in history have clocked sub 47 seconds times, let alone sub-46.
His arch-rival, Rai Benjamin won silver in 46.17 seconds with Brazil’s Alison Dos Santos claiming bronze in 46.72, both regional records that smashed their personal best. Notably, Warholm’s win was hailed as one of the standout matches.
