Josh Widdicombe ‘has no idea where the money’s gone’ after discovering he’s related to actual Henry VIII

Comedian Josh Widdicombe is absolutely baffled after learning he’s related to actual royalty, but didn’t get a slice of his family’s historical fortune.

Earlier this week, Josh appeared on BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? which delves into the family tree of some of the nation’s best-loved famous faces.

However, The Last Leg star got way more than he bargained for after he was told he descended from none other than Henry VIII and Edward I in some truly fantastic scenes.

Today, he responded to the mad revelations whilst promoting his new book Watching Neighbours Twice A Day… on Loose Women, and it seems he’s yet to profit from his royal ancestors.

‘It was the maddest thing that has ever happened to me,’ he told the panel.

‘I thought I’d meet a few farmers… well not meet them, I’m aware of how the show works!’

Josh went on to explain how he was given the information after finding out he was connected to Henry VIII through predictably scandalous means.

He told the panel: ‘The daughter who he illegitimately had with Mary Boleyn was my 14x great-grandmother.’

Other discoveries to come out of the episode included his 10x great-grandfather Henry Rich was a trusted adviser to none other than King Charles I.

Josh explained to the Loose ladies: ‘He was groom of the stool, their job was to go to the toilet with the King and then clean up afterwards, that was my 10x great granddad.

‘They went all the way back to Edward I and I don’t know where the money has gone!’ the comedian joked.

Host Christine Lampard finished up the interview teasing Josh’s newfound royal status.

She commented: ‘Well Josh, your royal highness, thanks so much for joining us.’

The comedian isn’t the only star to have found links to the royal family, with EastEnders favourite Danny Dyer having five years ago he had a distant link to William the Conqueror and King Edward III.
