Teofimo Lopez Wants to Fight George Kambosos Jr. On November 13

After multiple Triller-induced deviations in setting up the title fight between George Kambosos Jr. and Teofimo Lopez, the two are finally set to clash under Eddie Hearn’s umbrella.

The George Kambosos Jr. vs Teofimo Lopez fight is definitely an A-grade matchup. Watching these two young lightweights clash for the title would indubitably be a spectacle. However, talks of this matchup have stretched on for far too long now. It seems the event finally has a date set now.

In an exclusive interview with Dan Rafael, Teofimo Lopez shared that November 13 at Madison Square Garden looks like a possibility as of now.

It seems George Kambosos Jr. also believes the same date is being locked in for the overdue clash, reports Boxing News 24.

However, Dan Rafael believes it’s a bit early for fans to mark the date on the calendar. He points out that November 13 appears unlikely because DAZN already has two cards on that date.

One is a Matchroom Boxing event in England headlined by Kid Galahad’s IBF featherweight title defense against Kiko Martinez. Another is a Golden Boy card in Anaheim, California, headlined by the middleweight clash between Jaime Munguia-Gabriel Rosado.

If this fight sees any further delays, would it even make sense for these two to fight?

Teofimo Lopez does not want to burn bridges with Triller

The lightweight champ wanted to fight more in 2021. Instead of running it back with Vasyl Lomachenko, he chose to defend his titles against George Kambosos Jr. However, Triller strung him and the Australian mandatory challenger along almost the entire year.

Despite ditching Ryan Kavanaugh for Eddie Hearn, Teofimo Lopez has no beef with Triller. He says that he does not want to burn bridges with the network because he believes they might end up working together later. However, he highlighted that he wouldn’t work with them for his own boxing career.

“No, no, not at all, because at the end of the day, we’re probably going to meet again some other time, but I’m not talking about in my boxing. Maybe for something else. No hard feelings at all. I don’t burn my bridges. I always keep them open. My door is always open for anybody and everybody. Everything happens the way it needs to.

“I already knew we were going to be good regardless. I always think of the positive rather than the negative. (Triller) kept sabotaging the dates and kept sabotaging certain things.

“But I knew, worst-case scenario, it was going to go to DAZN, and when anything goes into DAZN’s hands, it’s always going to come to fruition.

“This is a real organized company that’s been in the game, Matchroom, and also DAZN. They know what they want, and they know what they’re doing and what they’re shooting for. Really, I’m just thankful,” said Teofimo Lopez.

Lopez says he’s been more patient with the delays and added he is looking forward to beating Kambosos. He claimed the Australian screamed at his team and his mother in his absence and is looking forward to payback.
