WATCH: Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Dazzles Under the Lights in Latest Photos
This season, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will make its debut on the F1 calendar for the very first time. As a result, constructions continue to take place in the bustling city of Jeddah to get the circuit ready in time for the race, which will take place in the first weekend of December.
With 50 days to go, organisers of the Middle Eastern race shared new photographs of the progress they have made so far.
Organisers of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix give an update
Last year, Saudi Arabia and F1 signed a deal which would see the Arab country be a long-time feature on the F1 calendar. Although the Jeddah Corniche Circuit will be 6.174km long, it comes with several high-speed sections. In fact, the race’s organisers claim it will be the fastest street race in F1 today.
The race looks most likely to take place in the night, which naturally means it will need lights. Earlier today, organisers of the race shared pictures showing the lighting system in action. From the looks of it, this aspect of development looks complete, which augurs well for its organisers.

The 2021 F1 season will finish with three races in the Middle East
The withdrawal of the Australian and Japanese Grands Prix saw the calendar take a different shape. From 23 at the start of the season, the number of races went down to 22 and one spot remained open for another race.

Recently, F1 announced Qatar would fill that empty slot this season, with the race taking place on November 21. In addition, it will join the F1 calendar again in 2023, and continue to feature for the next 10 years.
As for this season, the next race is the United States Grand Prix, which will take place next weekend. Following this weekend will be the final triple-header of the season, which comprises races in Mexico, Brazil and Qatar. Saudi Arabia follows the Middle Eastern country, with Abu Dhabi hosting the season-ending race on a new layout in the Yas Marina Circuit.
While Saudi Arabia will debut on the F1 calendar, it looks most likely to play host to another thrilling chapter in the title fight between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. Who will come out on top by the end of the season? Only time will tell.
