When Did Simone Biles Start Her Gymnastics Journey?

24-year-old Simone Biles has attained laurels that most gymnasts dream of all their lives. Regarded as the GOAT of gymnastics, she started her journey on the mat at a very young age.

With her second innings at Tokyo Olympics 2020, Biles now has seven Olympic medals to her name. Hence, she is tied to being the most decorated Olympic gymnast in history.

Simone Biles, from toddler to legend

Biles was just six years old when she first stepped on the mat, during a daycare field trip. Astonishingly, the trainers suggested she had the gift of gymnastics then itself. Thus, young Biles began her journey to being crowned as the GOAT of gymnastics.

At 8, she was training under Aimee Boorman. During the 2012 London Olympics, she was too young to compete, but her talent and potential were known to all.

It was in 2013 when Simone competed in her maiden international event. In 2014, she started showing her domination in the sport. What separated Biles from every other gymnast was her all-rounder skills. Biles was not just proving herself in one but in all the gymnastics events.

Finally, in 2016, she arrived at her first Olympic games and stole the show, one death-defying leap at a time.

Queen of gymnastics

Simone has competed in two Olympic games to date. Albeit what she has achieved in a short span is remarkable. From Olympic medals, World Championship medals to advocating for mental health, she’s done it all.

Biles conquered her maiden Olympics in 2016 during the Rio games. Notably, Simone represented America in five events and reached the podium in all five. Moreover, four out of her five medals were gold. In Tokyo Olympics 2020, she clinched another two medals, taking her Olympic tally to 7.

Apart from her Olympic glories, Simone inspired the world, prioritizing her mental health and withdrawing from major events in Tokyo. However, fans now doubt her appearance in Paris, 3 years from now. Do you think Simone will compete in her third Olympic games?
