Who is Adele’s ex-husband Simon Konecki and how long were they married for?

After five years away, Adele is about to make her comeback with her fourth album, 30, and its lead single Easy On Me.
The superstar has confirmed that her divorce from Simon Konecki and her journey of self-reflection and redemption after the split have inspired the new album, as she attempts to explain the break-up to their son Angelo.
In an interview with British Vogue to mark her comeback, the 33-year-old revealed that what we thought about her and Simon’s relationship was all wrong, and that their marriage didn’t last ‘very long’.
Who is Simon Konecki?
Konecki is the CEO of the charity Drop4Drop, which campaigns to provide clean water in poor countries.
He set up the charity with his friend Lucas White, after they set up an eco-friendly brand of bottled water, Life Water.
Konecki previously worked at EBS and managed teams of brokers at Lehman Brothers.
The 47-year-old was born in New York but moved to the UK with his family when he was 10, where he attended Eton.
How long were Adele and Simon Konecki married for?
Adele and Konecki began dating in 2011, and were initially believed to have got married in 2016, with the singer referring to him as her ‘husband’ in awards acceptance speeches in 2017.
However, in her Vogue interview, Adele revealed that they didn’t actually marry until 2018.
She said: ‘The timeline the press have of my relationship, my marriage, is actually completely wrong. We got married when I was 30… and then I left.’
The Rolling In The Deep singer, who turned 30 in May 2018, didn’t say how long her marriage lasted, but said: ‘I’m not gonna go into that detail, remember I am embarrassed. This is very embarrassing. It wasn’t very long.’

The couple confirmed their separation in April 2019, saying: ‘Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.’
Their divorce was finalised earlier this year.
Do Adele and Simon Konecki have any children?
A year after they started dating, Adele confirmed in June 2012 that she was pregnant with their first child, and later gave birth to their son Angelo, now nine.
Konecki reportedly also had a daughter from his previous marriage to stylist Clary Fisher.
Following their split, Konecki bought a house across the road from Adele’s Los Angeles mansion and they are co-parenting Angelo.

Adele said of her ex: ‘I definitely chose the perfect person to have my child with.’
However, she admitted that the split was rough on Angelo, telling Vogue: ‘My son has had a lot of questions. Really good questions, really innocent questions, that I just don’t have an answer for. “Why can’t you still live together?’” I just felt like I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness. It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal.’
