A Place in the Sun guest breaks down in tears as she reveals tragic reason her property dream can never come true

A PLACE in the Sun turned very emotional when a guest broke down into tears as she recalled the reason she can never have her dream property.

Maureen explained to the show’s presenter Scarlette Douglas that she had been visiting the area for 30 years and it was where she wanted to retire permanently.

Things were going well until the pair visited the third property which turned out to be the home she and her late husband Ian had dreamed of moving into.

Ian and Maureen had dreamed of owning the five-bedroom townhouse in Turre as her hubby wanted a fresh start.

After viewing the property online for so long before her husband’s death, Maureen admitted: “I hope I’m not disappointed when I get inside.”

Scarlette then asked: “Is it something you’ve been looking at before with Ian?”

Breaking down into tears, Maureen recalled: “I did show Ian this but it’s difficult.

“I couldn’t be too enthusiastic about moving out here while there was a question mark hanging over his health.”

Reassuring her, Scarlette said: “But by the sound of things Maureen, he wanted you to do this regardless and be here and have the chapter for you.”

Maureen then apologised for getting emotional to which Scarlette replied: “

Don’t apologise. Look, Dave’s here, I’m here.

“We can see how important this is to you and we’re going to try and find the right property for you that will help you and set you off on your next chapter.”

The guest loved the property but decided she wanted a home in Mojacar.

Maureen, who had a budget of £90,000 to spend, ended up not going for any of the five properties she looked at on the show as she needed more time to think.
