Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus has had his chemotherapy port removed, weeks after learning he is cancer free.

The 49-year-old last month told fans that he had been told he was in remission, three months after going public with his illness.

After five gruelling rounds of chemo, Mark has undergone surgery to remove his port.

A chemo port is a small device implanted under the skin to allow easy access to your bloodstream to facilitate drawing blood and infusing chemotherapy drugs.

The rocker shared a picture of himself to his Instagram stories wearing a face mask and wrote: ‘Surgery to remove my chemo port.’

He then posted a before and after picture, showing a small scar from the incision, and also shared a picture of the bloodied port after it was removed.

Mark told fans back in June that he had been undergoing chemotherapy for the past three months, and later shared that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

One of the most common types of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is a type of cancer that occurs in white blood cells and can form tumours throughout the body.

His mother had also battled the same disease and had beaten cancer three times.

The I Miss You singer said of his treatment: ‘‘The first chemo, I felt like I was a zombie that fell onto an electric fence and was just being shocked. The second round of chemo, I just felt very weak and tired. Really just like the worst flu ever. The third round of chemo, I started retching. Nauseous and that whole thing.’

Mark was delighted to later learn that the treatment was working, and at the end of September, the father-of-one shared the happy news that he was in remission.

He wrote on Instagram: ‘Just saw my oncologist and I’m cancer free!! Thank you God and universe and friends and family and everyone who sent support and kindness and love. Still have to get scanned every six months and it’ll take me until the end of the year to get back to normal but today is an amazing day and I feel so blessed.
