“Destined to Play”: Stefanos Tsitsipas Shares His Profound Love for Tennis, Its Setbacks, and More
At the heart of headlines, once again, lies Greek international Stefanos Tsitsipas as he opens up on what tennis means to him. Recently, in his post-match interview at the Indian Wells Open, the World No. 3 expressed his profound love for the sport. In addition, he also addressed the games’ setbacks, the things he is grateful for, and the media who play their own part in making the sport better.

Primarily, Tsitsipas said that every person has their unique goals and aspirations about what they want to do in life. For him, it was always tennis.
“Tennis is my passion, and tennis is something that I always wanted to be professionally involved with,” Tsitsipas narrated.

Furthermore, the highest-ranked Greek professional admitted the setbacks that come with being a professional athlete. He highlighted the extensive traveling and staying in hotel rooms most of the time.
“But there’s a lot of things happening behind all of this, you know, there’s a lot of thrill that comes with it,” the current World No.3 assured.
Additionally, Tsitsipas also put light on players not being grateful. He emphasized he is unlike many who play the sport for financial reasons or because they have nothing else to do.
“I would describe it as like, I guess, I was destined to play tennis. I don’t see myself doing anything else, and I’ve accepted that. My family has been involved in that. And that is one more thing to be grateful for,” Tsitsipas added.

In the end, Tsitsipas also told the reporters in the room that he was happy to have met them all. He said, “You make this sport better as well.”

Who will Tsitsipas play next in Indian Wells 2021?
Notably, the second seed in Indian Wells has reached the quarterfinals. Tsitsipas will now face Nikoloz Basilashvili to make it into the semifinals.
