‘Doesn’t Matter’ Russell Westbrook Unbothered With Lakers’ Pre-Season Losing Streak

The Lakers coming into the season made some major changes to their roster. Trading in for a superstar like Russell Westbrook and bringing in veterans like Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard, the Purple and Gold looked set to dominate.

Even the training camp was promising. With the likes of LeBron and Anthony Davis returning to full health and in a better shape all together, the Lakers looked set to dominate the pre-season as well.

Despite the big three playing together and many of their new signings making an appearance, the Lakers haven’t won a single game in the pre-season and are 0-6 in the games they have played.

Russell Westbrook not worried with Lakers’ pre-season losses

The Lakers’ latest loss to the Sacramento Kings meant that the Lakers ended their pre-season with no wins and six consecutive losses. Moreover, the Lakers also saw a bunch of injuries to many of their role players in these six games leaving a thin roster at hand ahead of the first game.

This string of results has certainly raised a lot of criticisms and doubts among fans and pundits alike. Despite all the criticisms, new superstar addition Russell Westbrook isn’t bothered by the same.

In a recent presser after the game against the Kings, ‘Brodie’ claimed that the pre-season won’t matter at the end of the day. “I’ve been in the league 13 years, I can’t tell you my preseason record for any of those years… (laughs) So no, it doesn’t matter.”

While many have been critical of the Lakers, coach Frank Vogel has been putting up multiple rotations and trying to find the right starting five for the Lakers. Given that the big three also have played only two games together, we haven’t seen the best of the LeBron and Co. till now.

The pre-season results often don’t paint a clear picture of how well the team will perform as well. Back in the 2019-20 season, the Pelicans started off their season with a 5-0 run in the pre-season. But in the regular season, the Pelicans had a 1-7 start to their season, which painted a much clearer picture of how their season would pan out.

The Lakers have enough depth and quality to be one of the top teams in West. Are you worried about the Purple and Gold’s pre-season results? Let us know in the comments section down below.
