Strictly Come Dancing finalist Jamie Laing addressed the seeming inevitability of how close couples get when they take part on the BBC show.

This year’s series of Strictly is already heating up, as the remaining contestants prepare for week four of the competition.

However, whilst everyone has been drawn in by some of the incredible routines they’ve witnessed, there’s already talk of some possible relationships brewing between stars which is fueling fans’ intense need for gossip.

Now, former contestant Jamie admitted he can ‘easily see why’ romance happens to some who take part in the show.

He told Mail Online: ‘The reason why dance brings you so close together is you have to immediately get over the awkward stage. You have to get over that straight away so it fast-forwards a relationship.

‘Relationships are all about trust and loyalty and when you’re dancing with someone it is about the same things – you can’t let each other down.

‘You’re such a team; you never want to let the other person down. You fall into the romantic side of things because that’s what relationships are all about. You build a bond with whoever your partner is that is forever lasting. I can easily see why it happens.’

Jamie stressed his relationship with Strictly partner Karen from his stint on the show is platonic.

He said: ‘She saw me as her weird younger brother. If Karen was ever in trouble, I would be there 100 per cent.’

It comes amid the ongoing speculation one of this year’s standout couples, Kai and AJ, are secretly romancing behind-the-scenes.

Kai could be heard telling AJ ‘I love you’ at the end of the their latest performance, which they scored a whopping 35 points for.

The duo spoke about the moment on It Takes Two after host Janette Manrara asked them about the very cute moment.

Kai said: ‘I think that was all down to just the tough, tough week that we had and the fact that we got to the end of the performance and it was flawless and you smashed it, and you did all the lifts brilliant, did all the technique perfect.’

AJ added: ‘We were both just relieved, you were just gripping onto my neck!’ as she momentarily held onto his hand.

Body language expert Judi James recently told us that AJ is giving off flirty signals in rehearsals with her dance partner.

Elsewhere, a source told The Sun last weekend they believed romance was ‘100% on the cards’ for the dancing duo.

The insider said: ‘Everyone backstage is talking about the sparks flying between AJ and Kai. It’s very passionate and intense whenever they’re together.

‘They’re both single and have really hit it off and everyone on the show is saying it’s only a matter of time.’
