ONE of Britain’s cheapest homes has gone on the market for just £9,000 – and it comes with a surprising amount of bang for the buyer’s buck.

While the home in Derbyshire needs work, it’s in good shape, and even comes with a tiny garden and dining room.

There’s likely to be plenty of interest in the end-of-terrace property in Mill Street, Ilkeston when it goes under the hammer.

The home stands just a ten-minute walk from the train station, and the lucky new owner will be moments from the town centre.

The ground floor boasts a reception room, kitchen and dining room, utility room and bathroom.

Upstairs, the new occupant will discover two bedrooms.

And there’s even a little yard outside.

The property even has gas fired central heating system and UPVC double glazing.

However, the successful bidder must be warned that there’s plenty of work to do before they move in.

“The reserve price is a maximum of 10 per cent higher than the guide price.

“However, the extensive marketing campaign that we put behind our auctions can generate significant interest in a property.

“This can create competitive bidding, with the property selling for way in excess of the guide price.

“In short, the property will be sold for the maximum price that someone is prepared to pay for it on the auction day.

“The minimum price will be up to 10 per cent higher than the guide price.”

WORK TO DO

At the other end of the property scale is a five-bedroom cottage in Somerset on the market for £1million.

However, the gardens of the stunning address are sure to leave house-hunters blushing.

That’s because they feature some truly head-turning X-rated topiary that has seen the property branded the ‘willy house’.
