Paul Sinha took to social media to respond to those who ‘don’t like’ the length of his explanations given after answering questions on ITV quiz show, The Chase.
Paul is one of the show’s six Chasers, having been a regular on the teatime favourite since 2011.
Britain’s brightest quiz brains like to use their appearances on the show to flex their extensive knowledge and give contestants and viewers at home some insight into the background of more complex questions.
However, the quizzer, who is nicknamed The Sinnerman, admitted some people have criticised the informative explanations which accompany some of the tricky quiz questions.
He reminded fans one of the very important reasons why they’re included, telling them they’re just watching him ‘press a button’ if he doesn’t get to elaborate whilst taking part.
He said: ‘Some people don’t like the length of my explanations on the Chase.

‘We are all encouraged to ramble on in case gameplay is too short. Then the editors keep in what they want.
‘I enjoy sharing knowledge. I like additional info. Otherwise you’re just watching me pressing a button.’
Fans quickly showed support of his remarks in the replies, explaining how much they loved explanations which take place in the show and urged him to ‘ignore anyone complaining.’
One wrote: ‘I really like those bits. You quickly start to see how people at your level make connections. It’s good for rookie quiz league people like myself to start getting better at making trivia leaps.’
Another agreed: ‘I get sad when I don’t get explanations! That’s why I watch the show! Also if there’s loads of chatter during the show I know it means the team bombs later and the editors are filling time.’
A third commented: ‘Ignore anyone complaining. For serious quizzers who love general knowledge (and tactical guessing) the explanations are sometimes the most entertaining bits.’
‘I for one really appreciate it and wish they’d show more – I get to learn all sorts of fascinating things,’ echoed another.
Earlier this week, Paul shared a more light-hearted anecdote with followers, in which a fan mistook him for a bouncer at a venue in Belfast.
‘Standing outside the Empire in Belfast last night two drunk lads walked past. ‘”Is that the Sinnerman off the Chase?”’

‘”Don’t be silly. Why would the Sinnerman be working as a bouncer?”’
The Chase airs weekdays from 5pm on ITV.
