Racing tips: Templegate NAPS 25-1 outsider to stun them all on Champions Day at Ascot
TEMPLEGATE takes on Saturday’s blockbuster day of racing confident of landing a winner – or three.
Read on for our man’s top tips as he covers Champions Day at Ascot and beyond.
JOHAN (4.30 Ascot, nap)
He will be happier back in a handicap after his effort in France last time. This is much more his level as he showed when winning a nice prize at Salisbury before a good fourth in the Celebration Mile at Glorious Goodwood. He likes this trip and some cut in the ground is ideal.
TRUESHAN (1.25 Ascot, nb)
He showed his class when destroying his rivals — including Stradivarius — to win the Group 1 Cadran at Longchamp two weekends ago. That followed up his bloodless victory in the Goodwood Cup. Alan King’s star would ideally like the ground a bit softer but there’s still some give underfoot so he can defend his title.
ART POWER (2.00 Ascot, treble)
He clocked a scorching time when winning the Renaissance Stakes at The Curragh last month. It was a Group 1 performance as he hammered a useful field by five lengths. His Ascot form is excellent thanks to his second in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and close-up fourth in this last season. Good to soft ground is ideal and he’ll run a cracker.
