Sasha Banks has taken a cheeky dig at CM Punk as she leads the way on SmackDown tonight when WWE and AEW go head-to-head in a fascinating battle.
The Legit Boss is set to face her fellow Four Horsewoman Becky Lynch in a highly anticipated, commercial-free main event as part of a supersized edition of the blue brand’s weekly show, which will clash with first half an hour of Rampage.
Fans – and Tony Khan himself – have been very vocal about Friday night’s battle, and Sasha couldn’t resist leaning into that as she referenced AEW star CM Punk’s catchphrase to hype up her own match.
Sharing a poster for her bout with Lynch, the former champion wrote: ‘It’s Clobberin time (sic)’
Of course, AEW fans – and those who watched Punk during his WWE days – will know all too well that the legendary wrestler uses Fantastic Four superhero The Thing’s catchphrase as he comes to the ring.
Typically, Rampage starts as soon as SmackDown finishes, but WWE shook things up with the 30-minute overrun, which features the Banks and Lynch match.
In turn, Khan has responded with a special hour-long Buy In episode on YouTube which will clash with the final hour of SmackDown, and see Bryan Danielson take on Minoru Suzuki, and Bobby Fish versus Lee Moriarty.
The AEW boss has also insisted she deliberately chose to have Rampage air after the blue brand to allow fans to watch both if they wanted to.
‘We’ve really allowed the shows to co-exist. I put my show on consciously after SmackDown, knowing that there’s a huge audience that watches that show and many of those people are going to watch Rampage,’ he said.

‘I want for the fans to be able to watch all the wrestling. I’ll coin a phrase right now that I’ll use from now on: WYW. Watch your wrestling. Whatever you want to watch, watch it. A lot of people have chosen to watch AEW because it’s the best show.’
Meanwhile, WWE’s Universal Champion Roman Reigns has since fired back at AEW after being asked by Complex if he considers them competition – it’s a ‘no’, for the record.
‘I think their fan base legitimately is a hardcore fan base. So there’s like a ceiling and a built-in ground to that viewership,’ he said. ‘I think because they are the new kids on the block, they’re the cool kids in town I guess because of how premature and how novel it kind of still is, I think there still being babied by these hardcore wrestling fans. Which is fine. That’s great.’
