Activision is Testing out the New ‘Ricochet’ anti-Cheat in Parts for Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard

Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have had a long-standing problem with players cheating. This problem has been the cause of displeasure for many pro players, streamers, and casual gamers alike. Activision has time and again tried to update its anti-cheat system. However, it’s quite obvious that these steps taken by Activision were not enough to curb this menace.

Activision is well aware of this problem and took to social media to unveil their latest anti-cheat. The anti-cheat- Ricochet aims to get rid of players cheating in the game. Ricochet will debut with the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard. Call of Duty: Vanguard is Activision’s latest addition to this fan-favorite franchise.

What does Ricochet have to offer?

While unveiling this anti-cheat, Activision was quite proud of its innovation. They said that the anti-cheat has made great strides in countering the blatant cheating. However, they stated that the anti-cheat still needs work.

Ricochet has adopted a multi-pronged approach to counter cheating. This includes –

 Featuring a new server
Introducing tools that monitor analytics to identify cheating
A more enhanced investigation process to identify cheaters
Updates to increase account security

Ricochet will release alongside the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard and will also come into effect into Warzone later this year with the Pacific Update. That is not all. Also coming to Call of Duty is a new PC kernel-level driver. This is developed internally for the franchise. This will assist in identifying cheaters. Maintaining the integrity and strengthening the security of the games’ servers. This kernel update will also make an appearance in Warzone with the Pacific Update.
It is important to note that this kernel update is exclusive only for PC. However, it is not to say that console players don’t stand to benefit from this update. Console players playing alongside PC players can reap the benefits of this update.

The inclusion of kernel-level drivers has been a topic of discussion amongst the community. Developers are not usually allowed access to the kernel of an operating system, ergo this update is a big deal since an error in the code from the developer’s side could even brick a PC.
