AEW Rampage results, grades: Bryan Danielson beats Minoru Suzuki in brutal dream match

The Buy In for this week’s AEW Rampage saw Bryan Danielson face Minoru Suzuki in a dream match.
Sometimes, two wrestlers don’t need a storyline or even any build to have a fantastic match, and this was the case on Friday night as two of the very best of all time clashed in a brutal showcase.
Tony Khan has the wrestling world buzzing after he dropped the shock announcement for the YouTube show, which went head-to-head with the second hour of SmackDown.
Danielson and Suzuki lived up to the hype, and even any minor, minor gripes would go beyond nit-picking given how fun this was, and how the crowd ate up every move.
The American Dragon picked up the win with the flying knee, and this was the best match of the evening on the AEW side – although it’s a close call.
Also on the Buy In, Tay Conti beat Santana Garrett in a brief but entertaining match, while Bobby Fish pinned Lee Moriaty in an absolutely brilliant technical masterpiece.
Rampage itself kicked off with CM Punk battling Matt Sydal, and they put on a glorious battle which stood out despite stiff competition from two matches on the Buy In.
They had history together which was played off nicely, and Punk winning with the GTS was the right move – as was the handshake after the bell.
Ruby Soho beat The Bunny as they made the most of the spotlight with a competitive bout.

Having Penelope Ford joining the latter to beat down their rival is a nice way to keep things ticking over, particularly with the TBS Championship tournament coming up.
In the main event, Men of the Year and Junior Dos Santos beat The Inner Circle in a packed and hectic bout, with Masvidal taking advantage of the madness to cost Jericho the win, leading to a post-match beatdown as this feud still has legs.
Between the Buy In and main Rampage programme, AEW put on a great night of wrestling with some absolute cracking matches earlier in the evening stealing the show.
