“Believing Every Point”: Paula Badosa on Reaching Her Biggest Career Final at Indian Wells 2021

Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa created history this week. She became the first player from her nation in 25 years to reach the final of the Indian Wells tournament. This is the first time she has reached the final of a WTA 1000 event in her career.

The Spaniard feels that she is in a great position as far as her level of gameplay is concerned. Paula Badosa is feeling confident with her shot-making and credits this improvement to the hard work she has put into the practice sessions. She feels, slowly and steadily, her game is improving and that with time she will only get better.

The 23-year-old player spoke on reaching her first WTA 1000 final at the Indian Wells and stated, “Mentally I think I’m very confident,” Badosa said. “I’m believing every point. Every day I’m working very hard as well. I think I’m progressing on a little bit of everything and that’s what is making my level going up. That’s why I’m in a final and playing against the best of the world.”

Paula Badosa and her impressive performances

Speaking on her performances during this past week, Badosa has beaten some of the prominent names in the women’s game. She beat Coco Gauff in the second round. After that, she won against French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova.

She followed that by a win over three-time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber and most recently, her good friend Ons Jabeur in the semifinal. After registering such impressive wins against some of the best players in the game, Paula is one step away from winning her biggest honor in this elegant sport.

She will be facing Victoria Azarenka in the final. We wish her the very best for the upcoming match and for the remainder of the season.
