Joanna Page has discussed the possibility of another Gavin & Stacey special and we’ve never wanted something to happen more.
Joanna, 44, who plays Stacey Shipman in the much-loved comedy series, said she thinks the whole cast would consider doing another special as the programme is ‘such a joy to film.’
However, the Love Actually star has ‘absolutely no idea’ if the Bafta-winning show will be back for another episode.
Speaking about whether she’d be open to reprising her role in the sitcom the Welsh actor said: ‘I think the whole cast would, it’s such a joy to film.’
She also revealed to The Sun’s TV magazine the initial reaction she had to the unforgettable 2019 Christmas special.
‘I remember reading the script for the last Christmas special and going, “Nessa’s proposing! Oh my God, it’s finished! There is no end!”

‘We were all like, “Oh my gosh, what does Smithy say? Does he say yes? Does he say no?” And you can see that they’d write it brilliantly either way.’
Joanna added that the one-off episode, which was written by James Corden and Ruth Jones, who play Smithy and Nessa Jenkins, was a ‘really nice reunion’ as the cast ‘feel like a family.’
‘We slot into those roles when we meet up. It’s really lovely and it’s so rare as well,’ she said.
‘But I have absolutely no idea if there will ever be another one or not.’
The hit series also starred Larry Lamb, Alison Steadman, Rob Brydon and Melanie Walters. (Picture: Baby Cow)
Gavin & Stacey ran from 2007 to 2010, with the comeback Christmas scoping the impact award at the 2020 National Television Awards.
The special episode – which proved the best possible present for fans on Christmas Day – bagged 18.49m viewers, becoming the most-viewed non-sporting event in a decade and the most-watched comedy in 17 years.
Joanna is currently expecting her fourth child with her husband, former Emmerdale star James Thornton, 45.

The couple have been married for 17 years and already share, daughter Eva, seven, and two sons, five-year-old Kit and four-year-old Noah.
She said she finds it ‘quite mad’ that she still gets recognised for her character in public, since Gavin & Stacey was filmed ‘years ago’.
But she embraces it, saying there’s ‘nothing nicer’ than being approached by a fan saying ‘I love you, I think you’re amazing!’

She added that she ‘really appreciates’ being offered the opportunity to play a ‘cracking role’ in a ‘brilliant show.’
Joanna currently presents the BBC mini-series Shop Well For The Planet? which explores eco-friendly shopping, alongside broadcaster Melanie Sykes, Diversity dancer Jordan Banjo and TV presenter Chris Bavin.
