Jordan Spieth and Xander Schauffele are currently playing the CJ Cup, held at The Summit Club in Las Vegas. Spieth’s performance has been impressive and many believe he can win the tournament. During his press conference, however, Spieth was asked about Schauffele and what he thinks about the young Olympic gold medalist.

Spieth seemed to agree with what Phil Mickelson said about Schauffele, and spoke about his game, amongst other things. Let’s take a look at what Mickelson said about Schauffele, and why Spieth chose to agree.

What does Jordan Spieth have to say about Xander Schauffele?

At his recent press conference, Spieth was asked about what he can say about Schauffele who was also a part of the recently victorious Ryder Cup Team USA. “Xander’s one of my favorites. He’s awesome,” Spieth said. “Gotten to know him a lot over the last, I’d say, two years than before that. I mean, he was our age growing up but I wasn’t – we weren’t very close”.

He added that overall; it has been fun getting to know Schauffele. He then mentioned what Mickelson had said, pertaining to Schauffele not being as appreciated as he should. “I think Phil said it, that he might be one of the most underrated players on the PGA Tour even though he’s obviously had great success and I would have to very much agree with that”.

As per the 28-year-old, Schauffele is one of the top ten putters, who strikes the ball beautifully while also driving well. Schauffele is, apparently, someone with all the shots. Spieth also referred to him as one of the nicest guys he has ever met.

According to Spieth, Schauffele is someone who knew he had the talent, and put in all the work in the right way. “Like, he’s not. He seems to have the right mix of feel and technique and at the same time he’s got his dad as his primary coach. They know exactly where he needs to be at all times”. Schauffele is also consistent in his game and does not sway much while on the course.
