Question of Sport recently underwent a huge change, with the show’s previous panel and hosts all replaced – but TV’s Jeremy Clarkson shared his frustrations with the new revamp of the programme.

Earlier this year, Paddy McGuinness replaced Sue Barker as host, with Sam Quek and Strictly Come Dancing star Ugo Monye stepping in as team captains, after Matt Dawson and Phil Tuffnell were swapped out.

But despite the excitement over the revamped show, not everyone has taken to the fresh line-up, with one TV personality in particular making his thoughts on the programme clear.

The Grand Tour presenter Jeremy tuned into the show on Friday night and shared his thoughts on the trio, who he urged to ‘calm down’ during the episode.

He asked his 7.5 million followers on Twitter: ‘What on earth has happened to Question of Sport?’

His question attracted the attention of Paddy himself, who used the opportunity to make a dig back in Jeremy’s direction.

Paddy responded below the tweet: ‘The same thing that’s happened to Top Gear JC. New personnel, bigger ratings. Love you.’

He finished off his response with a kiss face emoji after apparently not taking the criticism to heart.

The former Top Gear star shared another tweet on Question of Sport, writing: ‘I only watched it for 10 minutes and I have a terrible headache. Why can’t they all calm down?’

Some of Jeremy’s followers took to the comments to agree with his critiques, with one sharing: ‘Question of Sport, by any chance Jeremy? Well you gave it 10minutes viewing longer than us. Use to love the original, wouldn’t give it air time now X.’

Another said: ‘The new format follows the current trend for poor quality TV, with poorly cast team members, no sophistication, and just frenetic nonsense in a frantic effort to attract a new, younger audience! It won’t last long.’

‘Not even bothered with it since Sue, Matt and Tuffers left,’ wrote a third.

However, not everyone agreed with Jeremy’s thoughts on the show, with one fan writing: ‘They freshened up the line-up.’

‘Sue Barker and that format had been around for 24 years. It’s a game show at the end of the day and Paddy appeals to a very broad demographic,’ weighed in another.

Paddy is also one of the three stars who now presents Top Gear, after Jeremy, Richard Hammond and James May’s departure in 2015.

Question of Sport airs Fridays on BBC One at 7.30pm.
