Strictly Come Dancing 2021: Where is Ugo Monye – has he quit the show?

There’s a notable absence on Strictly Come Dancing 2021 this evening, with Ugo Monye missing from the competition.

The former England rugby international was forced to pull out of this weekend’s live show due to an ongoing injury.

It comes after Ugo made a strong start on the programme, after delivering a touching performance which was made in tribute to his late father – who died a few weeks before and whose funeral was the same morning.

‘My dad passed away a couple of weeks ago of prostate cancer and we had his funeral this morning,’ he said on the show.

Ugo, who is partnered for last year’s champion Oti Mabuse, announced the news that they would both be missing tonight’s episode.

Thankfully, the 38-year-old hasn’t left the competition permanently just yet, and hopes to be back in the running next week.

He shared an update with fans, writing on social media: ‘Unfortunately I’m not going to be able to dance this weekend on the show.

‘I have a history of back problems which has always been managed under the guidance of medical professionals. Unfortunately this has been causing me some unwanted problems this week!’

He continued: ‘I have been advised by medical professionals and with huge support from Strictly to get some treatment & rest to ensure that I can get myself back to full capacity & fighting fit for next week.

‘Gutted Oti & I won’t be dancing this weekend but wishing all the other contestants the best of luck & will be cheering them on from home!’

What time is tonight’s Strictly, and will it go ahead as planned?
