Shirley Ballas has revealed she is going to the doctor after ‘alarming’ messages from fans telling her they have spotted lumps in her armpit.
The Strictly Come Dancing head judge, 61, took to Instagram in her dressing room before Saturday’s show to reassure concerned viewers that she was taking their messages seriously and will get checked out.
She told them: ‘Hi everybody, last week and the week before I got some alarming messages from people saying that when I picked my arm up they could see lumps or bumps, or nodes or whatever.
‘So I just did some self checks and I couldn’t feel anything except a tiny little node at the back, but I’m going to go to the doctors on Tuesday.
‘To all women out there please keep checking yourselves and to those people that were concerned enough to message me that they saw lumps and bumps, I’m very grateful.’
She urged her followers to regularly check their own bodies for anything unusual, adding: ‘With gratitude, thank you.’
Shirley has previously revealed she has a history of cancer in her family and has had two scares herself, most recently in June when she found a lump in her shoulder.
She said at the time: ‘It’s something between two bones and they are not really sure what it is yet.
‘They have done the dye and the MRIs plus this and that. I get the results in a few weeks. The gentleman seems to think it will be fine but, still, it is worrying.

Shirley’s mum Audrey was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019 as well as her grandmother and aunt.
She also had her breast implants removed as a precaution after being told during a mammogram that it was not possible to see behind them.
