Red Sox’s Kike Hernandez outclassed everyone on the field with his heroics last night. However, his side fell short by one run, as Houston Astros took the lead in the first game of the ALCS.

Kike was an electric force in the match, who made life difficult for the Astros, making them work hard for the win. Notably, the Houston Astros eventually won the game by 5-4.

Kike Hernandez shows off his throwing skills

When it comes to hitting home runs, Red Sox can always count on Kike. However, he showcased an all-rounder performance in Game 1 of the ALCS last night. The first game of the seven-match series took place at Houston Astros’ home ground, the Minute Maid Park.

In a high-intensity clash with the home fans making their voices heard, the two teams walked onto the field, aiming to draw first blood. Notably, Astros’ Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa teamed up on Friday to dominate the game. However, Kike was the shield for Red Sox, who held the fort against a strong Astros side.

Apart from his home runs, Kike put on quite a show in defense. From insane dives to two sensational catches in the game, he restricted the Astros from padding their lead. Notably, in the bottom of the eighth inning, Kike threw a ball at 97.5 mph. While the Astros player reached the plate on time, Kike’s incredible speed stunned fans all over.

The Astros might have won Game 1, but with six matches still left to play, Kike remains a major threat to the Astros’ World Series dreams.

Historical day for Kike

Houston Astros celebrated their Game 1 victory, but undoubtedly, Kike was the star of the show. Kike recorded 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs. Remarkably, he became the first-ever leadoff hitter to hit two home runs and four hits in a single postseason game.

Kike even broke a legendary record in the ALCS Game 1. He recorded the most post-season games with 10+bases overtaking the MLB legend Babe Ruth.

The Red Sox will now face the Astros in Game 2 of ALCS on Saturday. Do you think the Red Sox will make a comeback? Or will the Astros triumph yet again?
