James Blunt is getting his gloves on for an upcoming chart battle with Adele – and has jokingly warned he is serious competition for the superstar.
After making her grand comeback with new single Easy On Me, Adele will be releasing her fourth album, 30, on November 19.
However, it just happens to be the date that Blunt, along with Sting, Elbow and Robert Plant, are also dropping new albums.
So, is Adele a match for Blunt and co.? Well, the You’re Beautiful singer retweeted Adele’s album announcement and quipped sarcastically: ‘Watch how fast that date changes the moment she realises my album is out the same day.’
Piers Morgan found it pretty amusing and left a string of cry-laughing emoji under Blunt’s tweet, seemingly having little confidence in the singer’s ability to topple the powerhouse that is Adele.
Blunt’s fans were equally entertained, with one commenting: ‘God I love you and your sense of humour.’
‘She’s obviously riding on the back of your fame,’ another joked.
Adele’s 30 album will be her first in seven years and was inspired by her divorce from Simon Konecki.
She seems pretty confident in her chart performance as the Hello singer recently admitted she’s not worried about Ed Sheeran dropping his new album weeks before.

Radio presenter Jamie Theakston said: ‘Ed Sheeran’s got an album coming out at the same time.’
Adele interrupted: ‘On the 19th?’, with Jamie responding: ‘Not the 19th, no, don’t panic.’
The singer laughed: ‘I ain’t panicking. He can panic.’
There’s no beef, though, with Adele adding: ‘No, I love Ed, and I really love his wife Cherry.’

Last week, it was revealed that her Grammy-winning record, 21, is the biggest selling UK album by a woman of all time.
The singer-songwriter’s second album has accumulated the most UK sales and downloads by any female artist – with more than five million sales, according to figures compiled by the Official Charts Company for BBC Radio 2.
