Kyle Busch Motorsports Retains John Hunter Nemechek for 2022 Truck Season
John Hunter Nemechek has been in excellent form in the 2021 NASCAR Truck Series season. Owing to this, the Kyle Busch Motorsports has seen fit to reward him with a brand new contract. In addition to that, he will continue working with crew chief Eric Phillips in the KBM #4 car.
Last year, he raced for Front Row Motorsports in the Cup Series, and moved to the Truck arena for 2021. With Front Row Motorsports, he managed three Top 10 finishes in a relatively quiet Cup campaign. The Kyle Busch Motorsports team elected to rope him in, and the move has paid dividends. To be precise, Nemechek boasts of a series-best five victories and the regular season championship.
“I came to Kyle Busch Motorsports because it was an opportunity to get back to Victory Lane – I accomplished my goal of being here for wins and I’m excited to be coming back for more next year,” Nemechek said.“We have some unfinished business left trying to bring the championship trophy home to KBM this year and then we’ll go to work on the brand new 2022 Tundra so that we can compete for more wins and another championship next year.”
What lies ahead for John Hunter Nemechek?
With the regular season title in the bag, his next target is the 2021 Truck Series crown. All that he needs to do is bag one win, and he is getting a one-way ticket to the Truck Series’ Championship 4. The best part is that he leads the standings with a 36-point buffer, over the elimination zone.

Speaking about the contract renewal, team owner Kyle Busch stated: “It’s been refreshing to see John Hunter get the No. 4 Tundra back out front leading laps, winning races and competing for a championship this year like it had in the past and it’s important for us that we are able to keep him in that seat for another season.”
Busch even praised the efforts of Nemechek and Phillips in the #4 truck this season. According to him, the two of them have helped Kyle Busch Motorsports in their whole program. As a result of this, the Joe Gibbs Racing Cup Series driver is thrilled to see a driver of Nemechek’s calibre back in the KBM saddle.
