Nico Rosberg Takes Subtle Aim at Fans Asking for His F1 Return

Over the past week, ‘Red Flag’ memes have been gaining the center of attraction over the entire world, with many F1 teams and drivers joining the trend. After the recent ‘Lewis Hamilton is only good because of his car’ statement, the 7-time world champion’s former rival, Nico Rosberg, has given out his own statement.

Ever since the Mercedes champion called it quits following the 2016 F1 season, many fans have been yearning for the German to return to the sport. And there are reasons for the fans to build such hopes. One, Rosberg is just 36-year-old, and definitely has a few years in hand.

Two, Rosberg is still an essential part of F1, as the one-time world champion has been taking over the commentating job in recent weeks. Hence, with the German still remaining active in F1, fans have often questioned Rosberg whether he would make a comeback to Formula 1.

Well, Rosberg used the trending ‘Red Flag’ meme to target such fans.

What did Nico Rosberg say?

Rosberg took to social media to reveal his answer using the meme. “Will you ever return to F1?” he wrote followed by numerous red flag emojis, clarifying a return to F1 as a driver is off the table. He further tweeted, “Sorry, I had to go for this one… Thanks for all your support guys!”

Of course, it was a smart decision from Rosberg in 2016. He wanted a championship title in F1, and the moment he managed to do so, he hung his boots and shifted the focus onto his family. But, he is steadily getting closer to the paddock.

It all started with videos of race previews and opinions on his YouTube channel, which then led to Sky Sports offering a role for the world champion in their media house. Rosberg was often seen on the grid, hosting the pre-race coverages in 2020.

Eventually, here he stands in 2021, as one of the most fan-favorite F1 commentators alongside Martin Brundle, David Croft, Karun Chandhok, and Ted Kravitz; the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix being Rosberg’s best race commentary.

So, will Rosberg continue to deliver more such exciting commentary over the upcoming F1 season in 2022?
