Rickie Fowler Marked a Unique Career Achievement With Fantastic Round at the CJ Cup 2021

After many months of waiting, golf fans can proudly say that Rickie Fowler is back! The 32-year-old is in excellent form at the CJ Cup 2021 and holds a 54-hole lead/ co-lead for the first time in over two years. Fowler enjoyed his round on Saturday and completed a huge accomplishment en route to posting a 9-under-63.

The reason why Rickie Fowler is said to be going through a slump is that he last won on the PGA Tour in March 2019 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. For a player of his standards, a two-year winless gap is considered a drop in form.

However, Fowler seems to have regained his magic touch just in time for the 2021-22 PGA Tour season. He’s playing in his second event of the new season and is most likely to end up as the winner unless he crumbles under final-round pressure.

The CJ Cup is taking place at The Summit Club in Las Vegas. The players find the desert course more comfortable than some of the other tougher setups out there. But that doesn’t mean the layout should be taken for granted.

Rickie Fowler shot 9-under in Round 3 and jumped to the solo lead at the end of the day. The impressive part about his round is that Fowler hit all 18 greens in regulation. This is not something we see golfers doing every round. In fact, Saturday marked just the third occasion in Fowler’s career where he made all 18 greens in one round.

Fowler needed to produce a bit of magic to go to the top of the leaderboard and he did. Fowler stood at 21-under after three rounds and was two strokes clear of Rory McIlroy atop the leaderboard.

At this point, tons of golf fans would be rooting for Rickie Fowler to display a clinical performance in the final round and take home the title. However, he needs to wear off challengers like McIlroy and Abraham Ancer in the last 18 holes of the tournament in order to be crowned champion.

Do you think Rickie Fowler will leave Las Vegas as the CJ Cup champion?
