Strictly 2021: Adam Peaty hits back at speculation over him ‘nearly kissing’ Katya Jones

Strictly’s Adam Peaty has hit back at viewers speculating that he ‘almost kissed’ Katya Jones at the end of their routine on Saturday’s show.
Adam and Katya had Strictly viewers hot under the collar as it seemed like they were going in for a kiss at the end of their Argentinian tango to Fleetwood Mac’s Tango in the Night.
Adam’s girlfriend Eiri Munro even shared her reaction to the moment, pretending to cry in a video shared on her TikTok account and adding the caption: ‘Watching your boyfriend almost kiss another woman on live tv.’
She then tipped her head back and fake screamed as the words ‘Finding out 10 million people also watched it live’ popped up on the screen.
Now though, Adam has posted a message to those speculating about the moment, reminding fans that their comments have ‘real life consequences’.
Writing on Twitter, he said: ‘My favourite dance so far Thankyou to everyone who has sent supporting messages! I loved it.’

He added: ‘To everyone who wants to see what they want, your comments have real life consequences. I will not be overcome or lowered by your gossip. Protect your energy.’
Adam and Katya’s impressive dance saw the pair take on a series of challenging lifts, with the passionate routine winning over the judges.
As the music finished and Adam brought Katya up to congratulate her and embrace her, viewers thought they might have spotted something a little extra between the pair.

The judges applauded the number, with Anton Du Beke saying it was ‘one of the most impressive sequences of lifts’ he had ever seen.

He added: ‘When I watch you, I get a little bit on edge because it’s either hit or miss, tonight was a huge hit.’
The pair earned 32 points from the judges for their performance, landing them third on the leaderboard.
Strictly Come Dancing continues at 7.10pm on BBC One.
