VIDEO: Jim Miller Equals Charles Oliveira’s Record After a One Punch Knockout at UFC Fight Night

Jim Miller took on UFC newcomer Erick Gonzalez in his 50th professional fight on the main card at UFC Vegas 40. The UFC veteran went into the fight on the back of a two-fight skid against the likes of Vinc Pichel and Joe Solecki. Gonzalez, on the other hand, was on an impressive two-fight win streak.

Despite a strong start, from Gonzalez, it was Miller who was able to get the job done later in round number two. With the win, Miller cemented his place further in the history books. He is now tied for the second-most wins in the promotion at 22, just one behind all-time leader Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.

Jim Miller gets the job done with just one punch

The fight started off well for Gonzalez, who piled on the pressure early on in the fight. However, as the fight went on, Miller started establishing his dominance. Miller was able to secure a takedown in the very first round and caused a significant amount of damage being on top.

However, it did not take too much of round two for Miller to secure a finish. Gonzales threw a looping right kick. Gonzales slipped away from the kick and landed a left hand right on the button. As soon as the punch connected, Gonzalez hit the canvas, the referee stepped in before Miller could inflict any further damage.

‘A-10’ made his UFC debut against David Baron at UFC 89 in 2008. He has since been a mainstay in the UFC’s lightweight division, which is perhaps the most talent-stacked division in the promotion. Over the years, Miller has fought the very best the UFC has had to offer and has more often than not come out on top.

Miller is in the top 10 for most categories of records in the UFC. He currently holds records for most UFC fights (38), Most lightweight fights (34), most lightweight wins (20). Fans will be hoping that Miller can build on his performance tonight and string together a few more wins.
