Mercedes have Petronas as their title sponsors for over a decade in Formula One. However, there were reports emerging that the Silver Arrows might end their partnership with the Malaysian oil company and could strike a deal with Aramco.

But Petronas revealed that they had recently signed a new deal with the Brackley-based squad. Hence, crossing off the idea that Mercedes would take Aramco as their new title sponsor.

Petronas debunk the theory of them leaving Mercedes as a title sponsor

The name “Petronas” has been seen many countless times over the years. They are often seen on the car or on the team gear. Hence, it was quite a surprise to see reports stating they would leave, but the oil company soon confirmed they would stick with Mercedes for the upcoming seasons.

Can Mercedes gift Petronas another title?

The Silver Arrows have been dominating since 2014, picking up 7 constructor’s titles and driver’s championships. Hence, they would hope to be successful this season as well.

However, their fight with arch-rivals Red Bull has made things difficult. As it stands, Mercedes have a 36 point gap in the team’s standings, but the Raging Bulls would look to overcome that deficit.

The next race on the F1 calendar is the United States Grand Prix in Austin. Mercedes hopes to seize maximum points to further extend their lead, while the Christian Horner-led team hopes to catch them and claim the top spot in the championship.
