A Mastermind contestant was crowned champion as she showed off her impressive knowledge on Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Marianne McKillop revealed that the supernatural series, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, was her specialist subject on tonight’s instalment.

And the English teacher proved that she could have basically starred on the show herself with her knowledge opposite quizmaster Clive Myrie.

During the episode Marianne was up against Gillian Burgoyne a retired nurse whose specialist subject was the saxophone, chartered accountant Dean Ward, who answered questions on Margaret Thatcher, and investor Daniel Howard, an expert on venomous snakes of Africa.

She correctly answered 10 questions, with no passes and only two wrong answers, which put her in front of her co-stars at the halfway point.

Marianne had to then wait her turn for the general knowledge round, and was eventually told that she had to beat a score of 19.

She managed to win her heat, and is now through to the semi-final (Picture: BBC)

Like a total pro, she made it look easy as she racked up points, eventually netting 20 points.

This means that she will go through to the semi-finals.

Speaking after the episode, Marianne told the cameras of her love for Buffy: ‘I used to love watching it when I was at university.
