Nick Kyrgios Doesn’t Find Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic To Be ‘Most Difficult Opponents’, Reveals the Challenging Players on Tour

After a disappointing run in the US Open and the Laver Cup, Nick Kyrgios has returned to Australia. Due to a consistent injury that had been troubling him for a while, Kyrgios has decided to take a sabbatical from tennis. Meanwhile, the Australian has been actively engaging with fans via his social media accounts.

Recently, he took the ‘Ask me anything’ challenge for his Instagram fans. One of the questions was about which opponent was the most difficult to deal with and Nick’s answer might come as a surprise since it did not include any of the ‘Big 3’

He added his own twist to the name, prompting people with ‘naughty or nice ask away’. Right away, he was asked to answer “who is the most difficult opponent to deal with.”

Nick Kyrgios didn’t hesitate to answer this interesting question. He quickly named “Murray/Nishikori”. In his professional career, the Australian has faced Andy Murray six times. In their six encounters, the Brit has clinched victories five times, while Kyrgios managed to pull off just one win.

On the other hand, Nishikori leads Kyrgios by 4-0 in their four meet-ups. His omission of the three GOATs, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic doesn’t come as a complete surprise. He holds the astonishing record of beating all three giants in his first appearance against them. Additionally, he has never lost to Djokovic in his career (albeit they have faced off only twice).

From the statistics, it certainly does look like Kyrgios faces some huge issues facing Murray and Nishikori.

Kyrgios hinted at retirement after Laver Cup 2021

After having an unsuccessful journey at Laver Cup 2021, Kyrgios informed his future plans on the ATP tour. He quoted, “This is probably my last Laver Cup. I don’t know how much longer I will be in tennis. This is my last event of the year – I will get my body right ahead of the Australian Open. My mum is not doing too well with her health. I’d like to go back and see her. As long as I’m on the court, I will try and give my best, but I’m not going to lie and say that I’m going to plan to play four or five more years on tour.”
