Lorraine Kelly has lambasted Len Goodman for voting Melanie Chisholm out of Dancing With The Stars, saying that she ‘needs to have a word’ with the former Strictly Come Dancing judge.

On the latest episode of DWTS in the US, Spice Girl Mel C became the fifth celebrity to be eliminated from the competition alongside her professional partner Gleb Savchenko.

Despite achieving four nines for her Quickstep to You’re The One That I Want from Grease, Mel C landed in the bottom two opposite social media personality Olivia Jade, with head judge Len casting the deciding vote.

On Tuesday’s edition of Lorraine, the talk show host spoke to LA correspondent Ross King about the singer’s shock exit, as she’d been perceived as a strong contender on the programme.

‘I had Mel C down to win! I’ve jinxed her. What’s going on?’ Lorraine asked.

Ross explained that backstage, Mel C had opened up about lacking in confidence, despite being an experienced performer.

Both Ross and Lorraine light-heartedly booed former Strictly Come Dancing head judge Len for being the one to decide that it was Mel C’s time to leave the competition.

While watching Mel C’s forlorn expression following the vote from the judges, Lorraine remarked: ‘Aw she looks so deflated, I mean she put her heart and soul into that.’

She then admitted that she had no idea who Olivia Jade was, before Ross reminded her how the social media star’s parents were involved in the controversial college admissions scandal.

Lorraine continued to back Mel C, stating that she ‘deserved’ to stay longer on the show.

‘Well poor Mel, because I think she deserved it. I mean for four nines? What was Len thinking?! I need to have a word. Definitely,’ she said.

This marked the first time Mel C and Gleb were in the bottom two, with some fans claiming that they believe the public vote is a ‘popularity contest’.

One viewer said that they were ‘livid’ by the result considering her consistently high scores, while another said that they were ‘gutted’ not to see Mel C progress further in the competition.

Gleb was formerly a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, which saw actor Greg Wise become the latest celebrity to exit on Sunday evening.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
