Schumacher Has a Grim Prediction for Sebastian Vettel – ‘EMBARASSED’

The legendary British outfit, Aston Martin, were one of the fewest ‘watch out for’ F1 teams ahead of the 2021 season. And despite the shaky start to their returning campaign, the results were falling right in place for the duo of Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll.

However, consistency has been the biggest concern for Aston Martin. Yes, the 4-time world champion did manage to secure a couple of podiums on the track over the season’s first half. Unfortunately, it has been a downfall since the summer break.

And the latest race at Istanbul Park witnessed Vettel secure a personal lowest finishing position, a P18 only ahead of the two Haas drivers. Well, despite Vettel enduring such a painful Turkish Grand Prix, former F1 driver, Ralf Schumacher, is backing the senior Aston Martin driver.

What did Schumacher say?

Speaking to Sky Sports, Schumacher reckoned that Aston Martin are more to blame than Vettel for the recent results; Vettel is yet to score a championship point since the Belgian Grand Prix.

“I defend myself that Sebastian was embarrassed. The team is more likely to be embarrassed at the moment,” Schumacher said.

Vettel indeed has nothing to lose from here, having hit an absolute low in Turkey. Hence, the German will be looking to bring his Aston Martin back up to the top 10 over the upcoming weekend in the United States.

Why Sebastian Vettel is struggling so much this season

Schumacher has a reason why Vettel and Aston Martin are struggling for pace. The former F1 driver opined that it is because of two reasons; Aston Martin’s 2021 development is going in the wrong direction and Aston Martin are working with quite a lot of new faces amidst recent recruitments.

“The package is simply not going in the right direction and does not seem to be able to develop further. Although they have a very close cooperation with Mercedes. Of course, the fact that you have hired a lot of new employees could stand in the way,” he said.

Overall, all eyes will be on Vettel this weekend, who has already garnered a total of 4 podiums in the US, which also includes a race win in 2013. Hence, amidst such strong successes in the backdrop, can Vettel revive his ongoing Aston Martin campaign at the COTA?
