The Skukuza Golf Club in Africa has been under the spotlight for its breathtaking visuals. Known for animals showing up on the course, social media users all over the world have been in awe of the images and videos shared. Apart from sensational golf, the club has its own beauty to offer, promising an experience one will never forget.

Pictures and videos of the club often feature wildlife, many times on the course. Just last month, the club was in the news for a leopard being spotted, strolling across the greens. Naturally, the news drew in plenty of attention, with the club itself sharing a video of the exquisite creature.

As mentioned, a leopard was spotted at Africa’s Skukuza Golf Club. What was amusing, however, was that the animal was seen playing with the tee markers present on the course. The rare sight had many surprised, astonished at what they saw.

“Making sure the course set-up is in the right place this morning,” the club wrote on Facebook as they shared the video.

Reports added that the video was taken by the club’s captain and greenkeeper Jean Rossouw. “As a greenkeeper, one of my duties is to drive the course early mornings to make sure it’s safe and just to see what’s going on on the golf course,” he said. Rossouw further explained that he saw the leopard at the second tee box, from where she walked ‘gently’ towards the third tee box. “She started playing like a house cat basically,” he said.

Of course, even the 30-year-old was aware that what he witnessed was a sight for sore eyes. “Anytime you see a leopard it’s a special encounter,” he said, adding that this was one of the few occasions where someone could see something like this. Additionally, Rossouw had been waiting to capture one in a photo or video but revealed they quickly move away.

“And you try to appreciate it without taking pictures all the time. But this one posed a little bit for long enough.” He further spoke about the leopard, stating that they are curious about many things, including the flags on the green. These things are often not natural and cannot be found in nature. Notably, he mentioned how hyenas, also frequent visitors at the club, often pull the flags out.

Moreover, Rossouw went on to name all the animals that were always around, all kinds of wildlife showing up.

“Every single day there’s kudu, nyala, impala, giraffe, bushbuck, warthog – there’s plenty about,” he said, even mentioning hippos and elephants. “It’s the only golf course in the world where you can possibly encounter the big five while playing golf,” he added.

Rich history

Built in 1972, this golf club is nestled within Africa’s Kruger National Park. The club is open to tourists visiting the national park, along with the public. It is probably one of the few places where the Big Five, lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalo can be spotted, along with many more birds and animals.

With caddies and golf carts available at the club, they also offer refreshments and a bar. When one does visit the course, they experience a unique and one-of-its-kind blend of golf and wildlife.
