WATCH: Dennis Rodman Almost Choked By NBA Star Just To Let Michael Jordan Score
The NBA is not the same as it was during the 80s and 90s. This was visible in ‘The Last Dance’ as we witnessed the style of play that we won’t see again. After the departure of Michael Jordan from the Bulls, several new dynasties have grown, such as the Warriors.
But the Chicago Bulls were built differently. They dominated during the 90s under Jordan and enjoyed a lot of success, something they haven’t tasted since. During that time, a lot of hard fouls and checking used to be the norm. That decade boasts some of the most strong and no-nonsense defenders.

One such player was Anthony Mason, who played for Charlotte Hornets during the late 90s. On one occasion, Anthony choked Bulls star, Dennis Rodman, during a playoff match between the Hornets and the Bulls.

Anthony Mason choked Dennis Rodman only to let Michael Jordan score
During a playoff match between Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls, Mason and Rodman got into it. Rodman had Jordan behind him and he wanted to screen on Mason, just to clear the path for Jordan to score. However, it ended up as a foul as Mason grabbed Rodman by his neck and shoved him away.
Former Bulls star Toni Kukoc was trying to back down the post. While Michael Jordan was behind Dennis Rodman trying to create a clever move to score. But former Hornets forward Anthony Mason wasn’t having it and he responded by choking Rodman and pushing him away. Any other player would probably fall because of the push; however, Rodman stood on his feet and started laughing and clapping.
It wasn’t over yet. Rodman didn’t try to get a flagrant foul and stood on his feet. But the refs went on to award a double foul. Rodman later said: “I asked him if he wanted to tango. But he didn’t know the steps.”
Rodman has been known for his shenanigans with the referees; however, he didn’t appear to be guilty in this set of play. Imagine going to these lengths, only to stop the one and only, Michael Jordan.
