Anthony Joshua Visits the USA- Does He Need an American Trainer?

Heavyweight icon Anthony Joshua is currently at a crucial stage after losing his unified heavyweight straps to Oleksandr Usyk on September 25. He is no longer the top-notch persona of the division and seems to have lost his right to claim a four-belt unification matchup. Winning the rematch against Usyk is the only thing that can bring him back to relevance.

Anthony Joshua understands the importance of his next move and is already hunting for a new coach.

The Brit star recently visited the USA and met several legendary trainers. He visited Eddy Reynoso’s gym and Ronnie Shields’ gym. Although ‘AJ’ hasn’t clarified anything regarding his training status, several factors favor him to go under a new stable.

Ronnie Shields appears to be the most viable person to take the lead, but AJ has finalized nothing. And it’s still too early to predict anything regarding his upcoming camp. Meanwhile, Shields has revealed some major insights regarding Joshua’s plans, sending several people into a frenzy.

During a conversation with ThaBoxingVoice, Shields verified the fact that AJ is in need of a new trainer. However, he also revealed that Joshua only has Angel Fernandez as his coach. While Anthony Joshua has claimed to be looking for changes, the current trip to the USA may open several doors. Shields further revealed what Joshua told him about his next fight.

“He told me, ‘Listen, I know people don’t think I’m a dog. I’m gonna be a dog in this next fight.’ And that’s his words. He told me, ‘I just need you to show me how to be the best dog you can teach me to be,” said Ronnie Shields.
